A CALL has gone out for Colchester Council to do more to highlight 2,500 years of history and heritage found in a major park.
Historian Jess Jephcott is to meet with Colchester Council leader Anne Turrell to discuss whether the remains of a £500,000 donation can be used to upgrade Gosbecks Archaeological Park.
The money was given to Colchester Council as part of a planning agreement in the 1990s to be used to highlight the park’s history, which includes the remains of a Roman temple and theatre.
But currently the park is mainly used by dog walkers, with only aging signs leaving clues of the site’s heritage.
