A DETERMINED seven-year-old has set her sights on a 17-mile fundraising cycle ride.
Faye Size, of Casino Road, Colchester, was touched by the plight of children living in Haiti following January’s earthquake, and wanted to donate her pocket money to charity.
With the help of her parents, the Kings Ford Infant School pupil decided to try to raise £500 through a sponsored bike ride, which will go from Stapleton to Lane Head, in County Durham on April 3 and 4. Faye will be on holiday visiting her grandparents.
Faye’s dad, Garry Size, said: “She had watched the reports about Haiti on Newsround, and they were talking about what was happening to the children out there.
“She really wanted to help, and at first asked if she could donate her pocket money. But then we came up with the idea of the sponsored bike ride.”
“It’s a fair way for someone of her age, so we are really proud of her.”
So far the youngster has raised £100.
