Sale of Colchester Council's Angel Court completed

ANGEL Court, the home of Colchester Council's customer service centre, has been sold.

Local developer City & Country Group has bought the High Street office.

The council has reached a leaseback arrangement for the Customer Service Centre and the CCTV Monitoring Centre in the building.

The company plans to renovate and redevelop the property, which could result in conversions to shops or restaurants.

I'm surprised. I was expecting it to be sold for £50K to Firstsite!

Hope they are ready for the dead pigeons and maggots that fall through the roof onto the workers in the summer.

It's called short termisum. The money goes in the coffers now and makes the councillors P&L look good come bonus time but a few years down the line, they will have paid the whole lot back in rent plus some but the councillors now will not be the councillors then so thay don't give a hoot! We will still be paying council tax though!

What else does the council have to sell?

The council housing stock?
Castle Park?

Angel Court did have maintenance problems and the Council has bought Rowan House despite my protests! The Council report stated that has 14 years before becoming beyond economic use. So there will be extensive renovation required then.
.
Unlike 15, Queen Street, Angel Court was widely advertised as on sale for years so it was fairly sold to this ambitious developer. It will be interesting to see if the promised redevelopment goes ahead or will it gradually deteriorate as Jumbo has done?

The VAF (aka VERY ANNOYING FARCE) should be the next thing the council sells.
