CLACTON’S first professional pantomime for decades conjures up some festive magic at the Princes Theatre over the next two weeks.
The curtain goes up on the world’s favourite fairytale, Beauty and the Beast, on Saturday.
Actor and funnyman Bobby Dazzler, who has appeared in Emmerdale, Heartbeat and Peak Practice, as well as on This Morning and ITV’s Pot of Gold, leads the cast in this tale as old as time.
West End actor and seasoned panto performer David McClelland is both the Prince and the Beast while Lauren Fox steps out for another stint as Beauty. Lauren has worked all over the world and has also toured the UK with Mad About the Musicals and in the musical Waterloo.
Keith Myers, a veteran of more than 20 pantos completes the lin-up as Dame Dotty.
He has been in EastEnders as well as West End productions and plays by Shakespeare. Last year he appeared in Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads.
A group of talented young Clacton performers have also successfully auditioned to take part.
Together they tell the tale of a beautiful princess longing for romance and adventure, who is taken prisoner by the monstrous Beast.
Mad About Productions brings bucketfuls of mayhem, special effects, sensational sets and breathtaking costumes to the theatre until January 1.
Times vary daily and tickets, priced from £10, can be booked on 01255 686633.
