A WOMAN is in hospital with head and leg injuries after being hit by a car in Weeley.
The victim, believed to be aged about 30, was walking down an unlit road when the accident happened.
She suffered fractures to both her legs and head injuries after being hit by a Volvo V50.
The woman, who lives in Weeley, was taken to Colchester General Hospital by ambulance. Police said her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
The accident happened in Clacton Road at 5.10pm on Thursday. Police said visibility was poor and the road surface was damp.
The Volvo driver, a 51-year-old woman from Weeley Heath, was treated for shock at the scene.
