A ZOO worker came to the aid of an elderly motorist after she had suffered a flat tyre.
Ian Clark, who works with birds of prey at Colchester Zoo, swooped to help 74-year-old Debbie Byrne.
Mrs Byrne said she was moved to tears by the good Samaritan who changed her tyre in Maldon Road, Colchester.
She said: “I was about a mile from the zoo, on my way home to Tiptree. It was really dark and I was quite worried.
“I carried on until I got to the zoo and when I got out I realised that the tyre was flat.”
She didn’t have a mobile phone and thought she was stranded, until Mr Clark came to the rescue, saying “don’t worry. I can sort that out”.
Mrs Byrne said he even refused to borrow the mats from her car to lie on while he worked in the wet road.
She added: “When it came to saying goodbye I just burst into tears. I could not believe how kind he had been. He was just such a lovely young man. I just want to let people know what he did and to publicly say thank you.”
