Job losses as off-licences close

THE closure of three off-licences in north Essex will see 12 jobs lost.

Bottoms Up in High Street, Colchester and branches of The Local in High Street, Dovercourt and Maldon Road, Tiptree are to close after parent company First Quench Retailing went in to administration.

The firm hit dificulties after a fall in sales during the recession and adminstrator KPMG has announced the closure of 373 “loss-making” stores across the country, resulting in 1,738 redundancies.

Stock clearances sales are being held, with the Colchester branch trading until December 2 and the other two closing on November 25.
