A CHARITY worker has been rewarded for her efforts over the past two decades.
Monica Matthews, a volunteer at the Barnardo’s shop, in Rosemary Road, Clacton, was highly commended in the prestigious Marsh Trust awards.
Monica has been giving her time at the Clacton shop since it opened, 22 years ago.
She started on the till and then took over the new goods section.
Monica said: “I am very excited to be acknowledged by the Marsh Trust.
“I love working for Barnardo’s and raising money to help vulnerable and disadvantaged young people.”
Judy Quaif, manager of the shop, who nominated Monica for the award, said: “Monica is an exceptional volunteer.
“We are extremely grateful for all the work she has done for the charity over the years.
“We would like to thank her for going above and beyond the call of duty to make life better for our young people.”
Monica was presented with her certificate by Delroy Pomell, Barnardo’s director for London, East and South East England.
