Will village life be lost in Tiptree by threat of new housing?

FEARS are mounting a village will be unable to cope with a mass influx of people if new housing plans go ahead.

In the past century Tiptree has seen its population rise from less than 1,000 in 1901 to 11,000 today.

The borough council has now put forward proposals which would see the village expand further by listing three new sites as suitable for new homes.

However, residents fear any more development could squeeze services to the limit in a village where the population density is already three times the national average.

"In the past century Tiptree has seen its population rise from less than 1,000 in 1901 to 11,000 today". That is a meaningless statistic. Most villages on the outskirts of large towns have seen similar increases.

Your right of course and that is why many have not opposed these plans.

Everybody knows change will happen, but why are infrastructures not put in place before saying x amount of houses are going to have to built.Where are these people going to work? Tesco's and Fiveways can only employ so many people, which means more traffic on unsuitable roads. where are they going to park, Kelvedon/Witham?? I tried to book a doctors appointment, 1 week was the earliest unless you can crawl up to the surgery at 8.00am, wait outside in the rain and hopefully book an appointment for later in the day. The sewage system is at capacity (must be the jam). It is a joke that they want to put more houses here, but hey it makes the figures look good that they are meeting targets.

Common sense has been sucked out of this country and it may not be Tiptree but sooner or later someone or somewhere will say enough is enough to these brainless policies.

Tiptree is not a village and has not been for many years. It's a town. Face facts- it's going to grow, in line with colchester and it is not immune from development. Residents need to start believing they are a town and stop holding onto the village mentality. Hiowever I'd like to see what Essex police are going to do. Is there still only a bobby or two policing the place? ( 'PSCOs don't count becuase they are powerless pretend police officers) I agree with the afore mentioned comments about the Doctors--- useless. If Tiptree residents start tothink like 'townies' they might get better services.

You need to get back to Blighty mate - you are obviously missing the place as you live on here. I can picture you know, sitting by some bar surrounded by other ex-pats telling them how you would never go back as the country has gone to the dogs, before running off and checking this website to find out what you are missing....
