A ROCK star has lent a hand to a school play.
Queen guitarist Brian May stunned youngsters and staff at Layer de la Haye Primary School, when he made a special CD for their school production.
Children wrote to the 61-year-old informing him about their Year 3 and Year 4 Easter show, the Story of Moses, which is set to the music of Queen.
On Brian’s CD, he said: “I read all your letters and something clicked inside me, and I thought I should contribute to this occasion.
“I read your letters and thought ‘these people must care a lot to take such trouble in writing such great letters’. I hope you have a wonderful show.”
He also played a guitar solo, which the school hopes to use to open its musical.
Year 4 teacher Peter Mebbitt said: “We felt really lucky and he was really sincere.
“The children were filled with awe and wonder when we played them the message.”
Year 3 teacher Gary Tuttlebee added: “We always thought it was a one in a million chance he would reply, so we couldn’t really believe it.”
The production will be performed at the school on April 1 and 2.
