A GIRL sacked after branding her job boring on Facebook has spoken of her shock after her story spread across the globe.
Kimberley Swann, from Clacton, has had 2,500 friend requests on the social networking website after her story was revealed by the Gazette, then hit international news headlines.
The 16-year-old lost her job at Ivell Marketing and Logistics in Clacton after bosses saw the comments she made on Facebook.
They have stood by their decision to sack the office administrator.
Her story sparked a national debate, including discussion on Chris Moyle’s Radio 1 show, about the ethics of work and social networking.
Hundreds of people joined Facebook groups which sprang up in support of the teenager, including “Get Kimberley Swann a better job”, “Ivell Marketing & Logistics IS boring” and “For privacy, I support Kimberley Swann”.
Kimberley said: “I accepted most of them (friend requests).
“I got a lot of messages saying, ‘I sympathise with you’.
“It has gone on CNN, in Italy people have seen me on the news, I have had friend requests from Pakistan. It was mad.
“It was strange because I did not expect it.
“It was quite fun, but I got a bit scared at how many people could find me.”
The teenager said that now the fuss is dying down she is still looking for work, although friends are suggesting she could try her hand at modelling.
