St Osyth's Suga treat

Top girl band the Sugababes are coming to the coast.

The Brit award-winning pop trio of Keisha Buchanan, Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah are set to play at the Venue, a new entertainment centre at the Seawick Holiday Village, St Osyth.

The concert will be on the official launch night of the £1million site on March 7.

Park Holidays UK, which runs the site, is hoping it will put the venue on the map as a major regional location for big name acts.

John Flack, head of entertainment for Park Holidays UK, said: “It’s a £1million development that we have had designed for major events.

“It’s our intention to promote events, like the Sugababes.”

He said the group had just released dates on their international tour and the gig in St Osyth was believed to be the girls’ first UK public date this year.

He said: “We have been in private negotiation with their management for the past four or five weeks.”

Mr Flack added tickets for the Sugababes concert were released on Wednesday evening and would soon be available from the holiday park and via Ticketmaster.

He said the Venue aims to attract other top-class acts and it had already confirmed Ricky Tomlinson would be coming to St Osyth.

He said there were also on-going talks with the Corrs and Billy Ocean, among others.

Other events could include black tie functions and theatre productions.

“The benefit we have is that because it’s such a blank canvass, we can accommodate lots of events,” he said.

The Sugababes formed in 1998 when Keisha Mutya Buena met Siobhan Donaghty at a party.

When Siobhan left the group, Heidi Range joined the girls. They enjoyed success with the number one single Freak Like Me and album Angels with Dirty Faces.

There was a second line-up change when Mutya left and Amelle joined.
