LIGHTS, camera, action – the new management team at the Odeon Cinema in Colchester are ready for their close-ups.
Following the departure of longstanding general manager Geoff Sale, two new faces have appeared at the Head Street venue determined to stamp their own mark on the place.
General manager Kerry Harris and marketing manager Guiseppe Musarra have both recently arrived from the seaside town of Hastings with big plans, and much of what they want to do at Colchester has come from their experiences down there.
Guiseppe said that as part of raising the profile of the company in Hastings, they organised several charity screenings and sponsored locally-run competitions and campaigns.
Kerry explained: “The first thing I’ve noticed about Colchester is that it has a buzz about it. Certainly the audience is very different. In Hastings we had a lot of students, but I can see already there is an older and family audience to cater for here.”
Guiseppe said: “We did a lot of work with the local council and the police with a campaign to reduce crime and antisocial behaviour. We want to bring that here, as well as working with local charities and community groups.”
