Land next to Bradwell Power Station is up for sale to the highest bidder.

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) and EDF Energy have announced the start of the disposal process of land next to the power station and bidders can now express their interest in the 493 hectare site.

The Government-owned land is currently used for agricultural purposes and has been leased out to farmers over the years, but it is now surplus to the NDAs requirements which is why it is for sale.

The first step in the process is for bidders to return a compliant Expression of Interest, a signed Confidentiality Agreement and Data Room Rules.

They will then have the opportunity to visit the site, talk about their plans and submit an initial bid, laying out what they want to do with the land.

A preliminary valuation is expected in January. Then, in March, a secure 24-hour online auction will take place, with the land getting sold to the highest bidder.

However, the start of the auction is dependent on EDF’s plans to take over British Energy Group being approved by shareholders.
