Clacton: Fireworks fright for grandmother

A grandmother says she is frightened to sleep at night after pranksters posted a firework through her letterbox.

The 52-year-old was asleep in her flat in Warwick Road, Clacton, when yobs pushed the large Brightstar Atomizer firework through the letterbox in the early hours of the morning.

Her grandson, 11, her son, 13, and his 15-year-old friend were also asleep in the property at the time.

“I think it’s disgusting – they could have killed us,” said the woman, who asked not to be named for fear of reprisals.

Police crime reduction officer Colin Stiff hit out at the “irresponsible” yobs for putting lives at risk.

“There were three children in the home at the time and the potential implications of the incident are obvious,” he said.

Anyone with information about the incident in Warwick Road at about 3.30am on Saturday, should call police on 0300 333 4444.

"after pranksters posted a firework through her letterbox."

I think that should read "after ARSONISTS posted a firework through her letterbox"

When will journos and the police stop referring to these yobos as "pranksters" and use terms such as would be murderers.

my mums next door neighbour had a firework thrown at their daughters bedroom window and it smashed it and exploded in the room.
in both cases someone could've died.
a prank, in my book, is something silly, funny and HARMLESS, not life threatening!
i just wonder what goes through these peoples heads when they think posting fireworks would be a good idea...
