Colchester: Helping hand for disabled facing obstacle course


A NEW scheme is waging war on the unnecessary obstacles disabled people still face in their daily lives.

Ask VERA, which stands for Very Easy Read Associates, recently opened at the Colbea Business Centre in George Williams Way, Colchester.

The project is aiming to make more businesses, councils and organisations across the UK comply with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act, which was extended three years ago to improve disabled people’s rights to access.

But walking around Colchester with Phil Lee, who works for Ask VERA, and his guide dog, Usef, it became clear how little has changed.

Congratulations to their efforts.

but i am left wondering,
is this new act just enforcable on "owned" land, or all publically accesable lands ?

Can anyone help, or does anyone know ?
