Colchester: Sensory garden built at Ormiston Children's Centre

A NEW garden that will sizzle the senses will soon be unveiled at Ormiston Children’s Centre.

Sensory plants oozing scent, colour and texture, raised beds and a digging box are being built that will help develop a welcoming environment and encourage youngsters to venture outdoors and learn more about plant life.

The garden, next to Birch Primary School, was made possible thanks to funding from The Prince’s Trust, working in partnership with Essex County Council.

Ormiston Children’s Centre is one of seven in Colchester that is managed by the Ormiston Trust charity, which supports children, young people and their families with education, links to Jobcentre Plus, health and early years information across the eastern region.

It has worked in Colchester for six years, with its first centres based in the St Anne’s and the Castle areas.
