An elderly woman has admitted causing the accident that killed a Colchester policeman.
Sergeant Robert “Bob” Walsham died after his Kawasaki motorbike was hit by a Vauxhall Corsa driven by Patricia Maltby, 71.
The accident happened on the A12 near the Flatford junction on January 29.
Maltby, of Christopher Lane, Sudbury, admitted a charge of causing death by dangerous driving when she appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday.
The case was adjourned for sentencing in November, and Maltby was released on bail.
Sgt Walsham, 48, had been a police officer for 26 years and was a member of the Colchester town centre policing team at the time of his death, having previously worked in Clacton and for the Metropolitan Police.
