A WEEKEND of colourful floats, competitions and demonstrations brought the crowds to Walton Carnival.

Thousands of spectators turned out for the three days of events on Bath House Meadow.

The fun kicked off with children’s fancy dress on Friday evening and also a new event for this year, a shrimp run, which saw children race through an obstacle course.

Adults then took part in the annual pram race with decorated vehicles and fancy dress.

Saturday started with a sandcastle competition before the carnival floats were judged and the procession set off.

Carnival secretary Liz Harper said: “We were really, really lucky on Saturday, the weather was bright. The carnival procession went splendidly.

“The crowd seemed to enjoy it, they said it was the best year ever.
