The mum of a blind boy today condemned the “wicked” thieves who snatched holiday cash.

Tracey Bassham,30, of Church Street, Harwich, believes she was targeted as she walked through Dovercourt’s Main Road with sons Kyle, nine, and Tyler, 16 months.

Now the family says the town is not safe and more cameras should be installed in a bid to crack down on callous crooks.

Mrs Bassham, whose son Tyler is blind, said cash inside the purse included £10 for each of her sons to spend on their holiday at Skegness.

“I cried about that more than I did about my own holiday money,” she said.

Sgt Paul Redgewell, of Harwich police, said: “At the end of the day it is a horrible thing to happen. All avenues will be explored, including looking at CCTV.”
