IT WAS a colourful clan of cuddly bears that came down to the woods to take part in a fun family event.

About 30 to 40 families arrived at the Welcome Home Field, in New Road, Mistley, to hold a teddy bears picnic.

The event was orgainsed by the Mistley Parents Voice Group, an orgainsation set up to help provide inexpensive community events for children aged under five and their familes.

Georgina Crookes, a volunteer at the group, said: “It was a lovely day, we had lots of bears, big and small, and a special baby area, as well as face painting, bear masks, a bear hunt, a sing-a-long and story time.”

The Mistley and Harwich Parents Voice Groups are also organising a trip to Colchester Zoo on August 29. Coach travel and entry into the zoo will be £9 for adults and £7 for children.

The groups are also looking for volunteers, who can give as much or as little time as they like.

For more information on the next trip or becoming a volunteer, call 01255 508040.
