Gazette winners treated to days out

LUCKY youngsters at a primary school have enjoyed fun days out after winning an exciting competition.

Every school year at Mersea Island School was treated to a day out, after it won the Gazette’s school treat competition.

Schools were invited to register their involvement, then each year had to send in pictures of what they imagined their best day out would look like.

The best drawing from each school’s year group that entered was then chosen to be printed in the paper, and a phone vote eventually saw Mersea Island emerge as the overall winners.

It meant the school won a special trip for each of its year groups, which saw the reception class meet the animals at Marsh Farm, South Woodham Ferrers, year one enjoy a trip to nearby Tropical Wings and year two having a day out at Colchester Zoo.

The youngsters in year three saw the latest instalment of the Chronicle of Narnia movies – Prince Caspian – during their day out to the Colchester Odeon, while year four went to Colchester’s Leisure World, year five was taken Ten Pin Bowling and year six went to Rollerworld.
