A NEW restaurant, two office blocks and a car showroom all look set to be destined for an area of Colchester.

The proposals were considered by Colchester Council's planning committee on Friday, when it also gave approval for a huge new Sainsbury's store.

The committee members were also asked to consider plans to create a Frankie and Benny's restaurant, two-storey offices with car parking, an Audi showroom and two distribution centres.

Hi Feisty,

I've heard that it's going to be "huge".

Possibly as big as 10,300 oversized football pitches.

Imagine that.

What area of Colchester? What a pointless article if it does not even mention where the store is going. I assume not Stanway as there's a Sainsburys there already. Anyone at the Gazette actually know?????

Breaking news...

A car is all set to be parked later today in a car park in Colchester. The owner of the car is said to be "a bit annoyed" by the fact that he will be paying for this privilege, but said he would "go along with it" if that's what was needed.

More breaking news as it happens.

Hi-De-Hi campers.

I have heard that is is to be in Stanway on the land next to the new road layout and A12 access. Not sure what they would do with the other Sainsbury's though!

Hi Sweetie,

I hope the work experience is going well and that everyone is being nice to you at the Gazette office. Wow, they've let you write an actual story. Aren't you our clever girl. Although to be honest dear, it reads a bit s**t, lacks important details and uses some terrible phrases, but keep trying.

Give me a call later and let me know what you want for your tea tonight.

Love

Mum

The development will be at Stanway. The new, much larger Sainsbury's will be built on land behind the Harvester. The rumour is that the existing Sainsbury's site could/might be turned into a Park & Ride. Now wouldn't that be exciting!

Umm, local resident, how would a park and ride be exciting? I know Stanway is a bit dull, but crikey, even you can't find a park and ride exciting.

Norm,

You missed the point. Comment was meant to be tongue in cheek! I don't find prospect exciting at all and I doubt other residents would either.

Hurrah - Can't wait for the shops to move out of town. Free car parking. BRING IT ON !!!

Sorry Local Resident. I wasn't aware that people in Stanway were capable of irony and/or sarcasm. How terribly presumptuous of me.

I'm very excited about the prospect of a new park and ride. I wonder if they'll use Leyland Stallion buses like they have in Cambridge. That would be a dream come true.
