VOTING HAS NOW CLOSED

The bands have stepped up to the mike - now it's time for them to be counted.

Yes the first part of our Rock the Park competition is at an end, but here's where it gets interesting - and where you come in.

The Gazette, in conjunction with SGR Colchester and Snake in the Grass Ltd, are holding the competition to find two bands to play at this year's exciting event in Colchester's Castle Park.

With a change in format, this year's Party in the Park kicks-off with a raft of local bands on the Friday night.

A panel of judges have chosen the final five and now it's up to YOU to vote for who you think should be 'Rocking the Park'.

Voting closes at noon on June 20, and on June 27 we will announce the top two bands who will join the line-up on stage in Colchester's Lower Castle Park on July 25.

Colchester's Party in the Park takes place in Castle Park from July 25 to 27. Tickets go on sale today via snakeinthegrass.co.uk and at the town's Visitors Information Centre, Colchester Arts Centre and Charter Hall at Leisure World.

There is no doubt that it's a trap are THE best live band i've seen in essex/east anglia for a long time, saw them support we are the physics a few weeks ago at the arts centre and they were incredible! they have to win!

Why should a top band like Absent Kid with years of success have to work so hard to play something they should have been playing for the last 5 years ??

It is true though, it's a trap were nearly joint winners and then cav ok and armstrong must have got about 50 votes in about 2 hours. It's not possible.

Cav ok have 1000 myspace friends, this is not true.
Cheating is still going on, it is just on the SGR website where it has been blocked. tracking an ip address is very hard.

Sue, are you accusing CAV OK of cheating, as they are (currently) winning both polls? lol! What if they are just a good band and people are voting for them?! Also, many of us didn't know about this poll until late last week, which is why their votes (and I dare say the other bands' votes have quickly gone up). It is a bit confusing having two polls!
