Ten cars and houses in a Colchester street have been "tagged" with graffiti.
Houses and vehicles in Dickenson Street, Mile End, were all daubed with "hwc", believed to be the tag for the "Highwoods Crew", in the early hours of Tuesday.
The door of one house was covered with the words: "Don't buy me."
Homes in Bolsin Drive and flats in nearby Bradford Drive and Hakewill Way were also targeted, while empty cans of spray paint were found nearby later on.
Borough councillor Martin Goss (Lib Dem, Mile End) said he believed hundreds of pounds of damage had been caused overall.
An Essex Police spokesman said they had received 10 reports of graffiti being painted on houses and cars.
