New services that include crafts and painting are being held at a church.

The services take place on the third Tuesday of the month between 4.30pm and 6.30pm at Dovercourt Central Church in Main Road, Dovercourt, and are designed to be relaxed.

Margaret Smith, member of the leadership team, said: "We looked at how we could provide services to the community, and one of the ways of doing it was to start a new style of church, not like formal Sunday worship.

"The idea is we do messy things, such as crafts and painting.

"It is a different service and a lot of fun - maybe there is a hymn, and we also have a general discussion sitting in a circle, rather than in rows."

"We are trying to reach out to families," she added.
