Bosses at a Colchester supermarket are investigating whether to install metal gates at exits in a bid to stop trolleys being stolen.
Residents living in Myland have complained for years about people stealing trolleys from Asda, in Petrolea Close, and dumping them in on their streets.
Various schemes have been looked at in the past, and now Asda bosses say they are considering setting up metal gates at every exit to stop the thieves.
An Asda spokesman said: "It is something that we are looking at, but nothing has been confirmed at all."
