Tendring: A way to help cash-strapped charities

3:53pm Wednesday 30th January 2008

A CALL has been made for Tendring Council to employ an officer to help charities get funding.

The district's voluntary sector is in a continuing cash crisis.

Voluntary sector bosses say there is money available from the lottery and other organisations but complex application processes mean charities often miss out.

Councillor Stephen Mayzes has called for Tendring Council to employ an officer to help bring in cash.

He claims a £30,000-a-year post would be more sustainable than giving the voluntary sector one-off grants.
