I write in connection with your article in the Gazette on Monday, September 3.

To get straight to the point all you need do is Google The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016, Act of Parliament.

For a local authority to issue an enforceable penalty notice for any contravention all signage must comply with the above act.

If you were to publish the full regulations you could possibly ask your vast readership to search the regulations for the word "Bus Gate", offer whatever prize you wish as the words do not exist.

Perhaps Essex County Council have a special permission to invent road signs to catch motorists out.

There is no start or end to this fictional bus gate so how can anyone contravene it?

Perhaps it continues throughout Essex and all motorists are now liable for this Mickey Mouse enforcement, apologies to Disney, and when will we ever get a competent local authority?
