A WOMAN who was found dead by her family at a holiday park had toxic levels of prescription drugs in her system.

Amy Skilbeck, 36, died suddenly at Orchards Holiday Village, by Point Clear Bay in St Osyth, while on holiday.

An inquest held at Essex Coroner’s Court, in Chelmsford, heard Amy had consumed a quantity of prescribed pain relief medication.

She also suffered from epilepsy.

Bill Cunningham, a family friend, previously said Amy was in the process of finding a new job so she could start a new life in St Osyth.

He described her as a “wonderful” girl, and said she was “the happiest he had seen her in a long while.”

She collapsed in her caravan and despite the best efforts of paramedics, could not be revived.

Paul Gammon, coroner’s officer, said: “She lived at an address in in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, but was on holiday in Clacton with her family when, on May 22, she was found unresponsive slumped over the couch, fully-clothed.

“An ambulance was called and the police attended, they confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances.

“A post mortem was carried out at Colchester General Hospital after toxicology tests.

“They gave the cause of death as drug toxicity and epilepsy.

“The family are content for the inquest to go ahead today without them being here.”

Caroline Beasley-Murray, senior coroner, expressed sympathy to Amy’s family.

“There is not sufficient evidence for me to be sure that this lady intended to take her own life,” she said.

“I have to be sure, to a criminal standard of proof, she took a deliberate action with the intention of taking her own life.”

She added: “I have considered an accident, but I am not going to record an accident.

“I am going to record an open conclusion.

“Please could sympathy be expressed to her family.”
