PLANS for a town centre pub to open a micro-brewery in Colchester are set to take a step forward.
Three Wise Monkeys, in High Street, will take over the former Jacks store to allow it to expand its own 'Other Monkeys' brewery, which is currently housed in its basement.
According to Colchester Council bosses, terms have been agreed by the pub's owners and the authority and tenders for essential work should be returned by the end of this month.
Colchester Council is committed to bringing the building up to standard, with the bulk of the work relating to the roof, before handing over the building on a long-term lease to Three Wise Monkeys.
Colchester Council has never named the popular bar as the tenant but its bosses revealed their exciting plans to the public in March.
