A BOY left distraught after his goalpost was broken was surprised when a kind stranger bought him a new one.
Oscar Millar, from Highwoods, Colchester, enjoyed playing football outside his home, with his own goalpost.
However he was upset when he found out it had been broken by vandals and put in a bin.
His mum, Sam Paterson, shared the story on social media, and was shocked at the kind response.
She said: "So many people commented on this post expressing how angry they were.
"A few of the lovely people said they were going to chip together and buy him a goal, and one lovely man went to Tesco and bought him one, which I think is absolutely amazing.
"So much wrong is going on in the world and for these people to do this just restores all faith in humanity."
Oscar was very grateful and was keen to set up his brand new goalpost.
