IT is that time of year again.
Carnivals are parading through towns across Essex and here is a chance to look back at events through the years.
Colchester may not have a carnival this year but it certainly knew how to throw them in the past while Witham and Clacton keep the tradition alive still with their own events.
These images show how the processions were a big deal in the 1970s and 80s with a great many colourful themes.
And vintage shots from the 1930s show marching bands and lavish processions.
