A sinkhole in the centre of Witham has now been fully repaired.
Guithavon Street was shut by Essex Highways on Tuesday after the 2m deep by 3m round hole appeared in the carriageway.
However repairs were completed on Thursday and the road is now reopened to traffic.
The problem was not related to the sewer system and Essex Highways believe it could have been caused by sandy soil under the road.
A diversion was implemented via the surrounding roads during the closure.
