A woman was injured after a police car crashed while driving to an incident. 

Essex Police received reports of a crash along the B1027, St Osyth, at around 8.50pm on Friday.

A police car then crashed with another vehicle while officers were heading to the incident.

The car had two people inside and a woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A witness at scene, who asked to remain anonymous, said: "There appeared to be injuries to the Citroen occupants. 

"The Police were were joined by about five more police vehicles very promptly.

"This roundabout is a black-spot but nothing is being done to provide a solution. 

"Speed cameras in the vicinity would help slow the speeding vehicles which abound in this location but how can the authorities be pressured into taking some action?"

Two officers were taken to hospital for further checks.

The road was closed for a short period and enquires are ongoing.
