Students gripped with royal wedding fever have been helping out along the procession route in Windsor today.

More than 40 students from Edge Hotel School rose to occasion and have been delivering hospitality to the huge crowds gathered for the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Based at the University of Essex, in Colchester, the hospitality students were chosen thanks to the connections of a graduate from the school.

Jennifer Kaye, a lecturer, said: "Our students are known throughout the hospitality industry for their professionalism and they are often asked to work at high profile events, such as the BAFTAs, but this one in particular is a great honour."

Their royal appointment meant they had to leave the Colchester campus at 3.30am today.

But Amber Hack, one of the students, said the early start was worth it.

She said: "We jumped at the chance to be in Windsor for the royal wedding - it's a fantastic opportunity."
