Heard the one about bringing your baby to a stand-up gig?

That’s what’s happening at the Colchester Arts Centre on Monday when Bring Your Own Baby Comedy comes to town.

It’s the country’s premier baby friendly comedy club which not only features the funniest comedy stars from the stand-up circuit but also provides soft flooring, toys, buggy parking and baby changing so that babies are happy while mums and dads can relax, have a drink and be entertained.

It’s the brainchild of comedians Alyssa Kyria and Carly Smallman. After suffering from post-natal depression following the birth of her daughter, Alyssa decided to set up a comedy event and excusing the pun, Bring Your Own Baby Comedy was born.

According to Alyssait’s ‘judgement-free zone’ where ‘parents can listen to comedy in a space where breastfeeding and crying babies are welcome’.

The show features a new line-up of comedians every month but because the comics will be performing their usual adult material, there’s a 12 month age limit for the little gig-goers.

With two more dates planned on June 18 and July 16, doors for Monday’s gig open at 11.15am and starts at 12pm. Go to colchesterartscentre.com
