ARMED thugs broke into a house and threatened to kill people before stealing jewellery and cash.
Two men wearing balaclavas forced their way into a property in The Willows, Colchester, just before 12.30am on Thursday.
The pair were armed with a screwdriver and crowbar and threatened the occupants.
They then took the cash and valuable jewellery.
The victims described one man as being white, around 6ft tall and well-built.
The other man was also white, shorter in height and of a slimmer build.
He had green eyes.
Both men wore a black balaclava and gloves.
The victims were unharmed, but were shaken after the incident.
Witnesses or anyone who saw men matching these descriptions in the area at the time, or has any information relating to the incident are asked to contact Det Con Danielle Markoutsis at Colchester police station on 101, quoting reference 42/68156/18.
