RESIDENTS are being reminded to sign up for a money-saving scheme on energy bills before Monday.

The Big Community Switch is a free quarterly collective switching scheme.

The idea is to give Colchester residents the opportunity to register and potentially benefit from cheaper bills for gas and electricity through collective buying power.

So far, the scheme has saved residents more than £259,682 on their fuel bills with at least 3,640 Colchester residents taking part.

Those agreeing to switching energy provider after receiving their offer, pay on average £223 less for their home energy bill over the next year.

All residents need to do is register their interest, with a working email address and recent energy bill to hand, at www.colchester.gov.uk/bigcommunityswitch, or call 01206 507555.

Anyone who registers will then receive a personalised offer emailed to them from June 4, outlining the savings they could make should they choose to switch.
