ABOUT 60 artists came together in a music marathon to support various charities.
The parish church of St Peter and St Paul, in West Mersea, hosted the music marathon to raise money for updated sound and audio system, and to support good causes.
The 30-hour music event saw bands and solo artists perform back to back, from swing bands to jazz groups.
The grand finale was a rousing performance of songs from the stage musical, Joseph.
Performers in each set were asked to seek sponsorship, which will be split 50/50 between their chosen charity and the church.
Ian Jewitt, musical director at the church, organised the event.
Sue Brook, a supporter of the church who also attended the event, said: "The music marathon was a phenomenal success.
"There was fantastic music, the church was filled to rafters and we raised more than £20,000.
"Half of this will be split between more than charities, and half for church.
"Ian was amazing."
