For it’s first concert of the year the Suffolk Villages Festival will be expecting a Faultless performance.
That’s because they have one of Britain’s most distinguished and sought-after violinists, Margaret Faultless, former principal for the London Classical Players and member of the period instrument Gainsborough String Quartet.
The internationally renowned specialist in historical performance will be joined by Steven Devine, the leading British harpsichordist of his generation, who performs regularly at the Festival.
He plays a copy of a harpsichord made by J.C. Fleischer of Hamburg in 1710, the sort of instrument used by the Bach family.
Margaret led the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, participating in a ten-year project that saw the performance and recording of all of J.S. Bach’s Cantatas, which is very appropriate since Margaret and Steven will be performing Bach’s sonatas for violin and harpsichord.
The concert takes place at St Peter’s Church, Sudbury, today, at 6pm.
