Colchester’s newest music venue is about to host its first event.
That’s independent café Deja Brew which with its series of intimate acoustic evenings hopes to showcase some of the country’s up and coming musical talent.
And they’re off to a good start for tomorrow’s opening event, with the welcome return of singer-songwriter Ady Johnson, a regular on BBC 6 Music and with three successful albums to his name.
The former Fuzzface frontman has been based in london for a good few years now but regularly comes back to his home town to perform, the last time at Christmas at the Headgate Theatre.
Dennis Davis, the café’s owner manager, says: “I’ve always been a music-lover, and so I’m delighted to be able to host these evenings. There’s something really rather special about acoustic music, especially in an intimate atmosphere where people can enjoy their drinks and food and really kick back and socialise at the same time.
“We have some terrific artists lined up, and we know Ady will give us the best possible launch night.”
Acoustic Thursdays will take place every two weeks with doors opening at 8pm and admission priced just £2.
