A MAN has died after being hit by a sports car which had mounted the pavement. 

The 29-year-old had initially suffered "life-changing" injuries but Essex Police has this evening confirmed the man has died. 

The incident, which involved a white Audi R8, took place at about 3.30pm on Sunday, April 8. 

Emergency services were called to the scene, in South Street, Braintree, and the man was taken to the Royal London Hospital. 

He died there on Sunday. 

A 35-year-old man from Halstead and a 35-year-old man from Braintree were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and released under investigation.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision or the vehicle being driven in the area.
