IT was a soggy start when the fire alarm went off during World Book Day at Unity Primary Academy, however the children's amazing costumes made up for it.
Witches, famous wizards, and even Peter Rabbit featured in the school's dress-up event, which had previously been postponed due to snow.
The children had a great time getting creative with their costumes and celebrating reading their favourite tales.
However due to a malfunction with the fire alarm, the school had no choice but to close.
It is not all doom and gloom however, as the school is arranging a THIRD World Book Day for later on this month.
Joelle Collitt, teacher in charge of the library at the school, said: "We had to close the school because of the fire alarm but the children's costumes were fantastic and they put lots of effort in, which we are really grateful for.
"Even in the short amount of time the children had, they still really enjoyed the activities. We watched book readings, learned about new authors and we had planned to do some shared reading.
"It will all happen when we re-arrange World Book Day for the children and we are confident it will go ahead."
