A police spokesman said: "We are investigating an attempted robbery in Clearwater, Colchester, and are appealing for anyone who may have heard or seen anything to contact us.

"The victim heard a knock on the door of a property, just before 11pm on Friday, February 16.

"Two men then forced their way into the property and assaulted the victim, who managed to shout out and also kick at the men. The men then left and ran off in the direction of Mountbatten Drive.

"One man was described as black, tall, and of thin build. He was wearing dark clothing, including a covering on his face, which was up to his eyes. He also wore a hooded top.

"The other was of medium build and described as white. When he entered the property he held a knife in his hand, and shouted at the victim, demanding she give him money.
