PRIMARY school pupils are working towards their community challenge award.

Fourteen of the Year Six pupils at St Luke’s Church of England Primary School in Tiptree have started working towards achieving our Community Challenge Award.

The challenge was introduced by Shonagh Key, the school’s Key Stage Two leader, before she sadly passed away just less than a year ago.

This award allows the children to understand the importance of being part of a community as well as demonstrating Christian values.

So far, the pupils have produced a news journal for 30 days to gain an insight into Essex, national and global current affairs, which proved to be extremely successful.

The journals contained a range of articles, pupil opinion and summaries of what they had read.

The next steps in the challenge include a six hour service to the community, a certified first aid course organised by our governors, a research presentation based on a person or place of interest and a team building adventure day at Wickham Bishops Scout Centre paid for by the school.

The school’s aim is to help our children become respected and valuable members of today’s society.
