FANTASY characters came to life as students took part in an art workshop.

Iceni Academy in Colchester teamed up with Art Solutions to make 3D models for a school display.

The children were shown how to build sculptures, create backdrops and select colours and materials for effect.

The school corridors are now adorned with dragons and mermaids. They said the day was messy, inspiring and enjoyable, with everyone, including parents, getting involved.

Lisa Corby, head of school, said: “Thank you so much to Art Solutions who have come into our school and provided the opportunity for children to become completely immersed in fantasy art work.

“Our pupils have thoroughly enjoyed the two-day experience and feel inspired.”

The children said it was an amazing experience as they have never worked on a project of this scale before.

They said they learnt a lot about using cardboard and newspaper to make 3D characters.

Jade James, learning support assistant, added: “The children have worked so hard for the last two days making 3D models for some of our school displays.

“Everyone has had an amazing experience and the school looks great.”
