A support group is being set up for mums with postnatal depression.

Fabrizio Casale, former consultant anaesthetist for Colchester General Hospital, lost his daughter Annalise to postnatal depression after the birth of her daughter.

It is a common condition, affecting more than one in every 10 women within a year of giving birth.

Dr Casale and his wife want to set up a haven for mums who are struggling with the condition.

They are hoping to work with mental health charity Mind, Action on Postpartum Psychosis and the PANDAS foundation to provide help for women in the same situation as their daughter. They are also receiving help from former midwife Mary Hynes.

Any mums who are interested in taking part should contact the Gazette on 01206 508414.

A venue and date will be announced in a couple of weeks.
