PENSIONERS paid a visit to Colchester Rifle Club to hear about their work with veterans.

The elderly residents from the Royal Chelsea Hospital were accompanied by staff at the Royal British Legion Personnel Recovery Centre and Chavasse House.

The pensioners had heard about the work of the rifle club, in particular by Paul Russell, over the past five years.

They were welcomed with refreshments and even had a chance to practice with an air pistol and gallery rifle.

Things got serious when they were asked to take part in a shooting competition at the club.

The visit was a great success and the pensioners hope to go back.

The rifle club had hosted a training programme over three days for service personnel to achieve scores for Paralympic and Olympic shooting.
