Relieved mum Lindsey Chadwick can now afford a vital machine for her disabled daughter.

Last week, the Gazette revealed how a saturation monitor was desperately needed to keep an eye on four-year-old Lucy's oxygen levels.

The youngster has a rare chromosomal condition called 2q24 deletion, and can suffer up to 40 fits in a day when her oxygen drops.

At the moment, Mrs Chadwick has to stay up for much of the night with Lucy, and needed the machine to alert her if her levels dropped dangerously - so that she could finally get some sleep herself.

Since the article, donations have come flooding in, with £450 coming from one benefactor alone.

"Overwhelmed doesn't even come close," said Mrs Chadwick, of Thoroughgood Road, Clacton.

"I can't believe people's generosity."

Wonderful news, Wonderful people.
It's a sad sign of our times though that this vital equipment is only available to those who are in a position to pay for it

It is so nice to hear some positive news for once in our local papers!!

Did you see todays gazette? It looks like Stephen and Danny Mayzes really do have a heart. What a really thoughtful gesture and I hope little Lucy has a wonderful time. Mum too!!

I agree Carswell Rules,

I started to underestimate those Tory boys but I suppose we judged them wrongly due to their age and inexperience. Maybe it will teach us old FuddyDuddy's !! to have a better pre-judgement next time.

It really does look like they want to make Tendring a better place for all. Maybe us residents should start respecting them a little more.

Hope Lucy enjoys the planes!!

I love that people are helping this little girl. When I have money I'll always try give some to people who need it!

And the Mayzes are doing it for the publicity I'll bet, not out of their 'hearts' (laughable thought!)
